In Ukraine, a conflict broke out between Kyiv and the central government of the country. Searches at Kyiv enterprises

Over the past few days, law enforcement officers have carried out searches at Kyivzelenbud, at public utility company Spetszhylfond, at Kyivavtodor, at the Kyiv Institute of Land Relations, Kyivmisksvitlo, at the Departments of Land Resources and Social Policy and even at the offices of Chief Architect of Kyiv and the Chairman of the Executive of the party UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reforms), Klitschko reported in his Telegram channel. The Chairman of the party’s Executive Committee Artur Palatnyi also announced about the searches at his place.

Thus, searches were carried out in several criminal cases at once that are not related to each other. In particular, at Kyivzelenbud and at the office premises of contracting enterprises searches were conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings for deliberate tax evasion during the reconstruction of the capital's parks for more than 30 million UAH. The Department of Social Policy of the Kyiv city state administration was searched allegedly due to the theft of 13.5 million UAH for the medical products procurement (three current and four former senior officials of the departments were served with the notice of charges), and at the offices of contracting enterprises—due to financial fraud for 12 million UAH on lighting in the capital, according to the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.

Klitschko's reaction to searches in Kyiv

Klitschko called the searches at the capital's enterprises "pressure on the capital's authorities and the suppression of the local governance." He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

"Law enforcers and tax authorities literally nightmarize the city authorities. This never happened in Ukraine, even in the blatant days of Yanukovych! They barge into the enterprises, into their heads’ homes. These are some kind of raids! In fact, what is happening is pressure on the capital's authorities and the suppression of the local governance. Pressure on me personally! And I will tell you what it is connected with. Because Kyiv is considering the issue of imposing executive committees. When society and city management do not depend on the instructions and will of the Bankova Street. And they really do not want this. They do not want Kyiv to be led by a mayor elected by the people of Kyiv, and not a turncoat appointed by the central government.

According to him, in such a situation it is necessary to turn to the guarantor of the Constitution for the law observance, however, he believes that such actions were approved at the highest level of the country's leadership. Klitschko appealed to law enforcement officers, stating that sooner or later it would be necessary to "answer in law" for the implementation of "criminal orders''. He also added that such actions would not go unnoticed and would be assessed by international partners.

Scandal between Klitschko and the President: the reaction of the Servant of the People

According to Andrii Vitrenko, deputy of the Servant of the People faction, the party supports the efforts of law enforcement agencies to allegedly eliminate the facts of theft of public funds. According to him, 300 million UAH were transferred through Zelenbud alone, 12 million UAH through Kyivmisksvitlo, 18 million UAH through Kyivavtodor, and 13.5 million UAH in losses through the Department of Social Policy. He spoke about this at a plenary session of the Kyiv City Council.

"And all this is when there is not enough money to build schools, to fight the epidemic, millions flowed into the pockets of entrepreneurs. We insist on a comprehensive investigation into all described episodes," the deputy added, stating the importance of identifying all participants in the schemes and eradicating corruption and promised "to do everything to stop corruption in Kyiv."
