Negotiations between UN officials and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin on the possible prolongation of the Grain Deal started today, on March 13, in Geneva, Switzerland.
This information was reported by Reuters, citing the Russian diplomatic mission.
The deal, extended for 120 days in November, is up for renewal on Saturday, March 18.
Moscow has already made it clear that it would agree to the prolongation on the condition that sanctions and restrictions imposed on its own imports are lifted. Later, Vershinin said that Russia was ready to extend the deal for only 60 days.
The government of Turkey is also already working on the prolongation of the Black Sea Grain Deal, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
