The current Cabinet has said it will not consider approving of the dismissal of Vitali Klitschko as head of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
Vasyl Riabchuk, spokesman for Prime Minister Volodymy Groysman, broke the news on Facebook. Groysman had earlier said the matter would be floored at the Cabinet's next meeting, which is today, Wednesday, August 14, 2019.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 24 requested Ukraine's Cabinet to approve a submission for Klitschko's removal as KCSA chief.
Presidential Office of Ukraine Head Andriy Bohdan on July 30, 2019 said Klitschko does not control the city council. Bohdan said at a press conference that during meetings he personally asked Klitschko to give up the institution of "overseers " in the capital, and that Klitschko had admitted that he had to compromise with them because he had no control over the Kyiv city council. Klitschko posted a video clip in response, complaining about Bohdan 's incompetence.
Klitschko, in turn, appealed to Zelensky in a video clip, describing Bohdan as incompetent. Klitschko also asked the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine to investigate.
On July 31, 2019, Klitschko met with ex-New York City Mayor and personal lawyer to U.S. President Donald Trump "Rudy" (Rudolph) Giuliani.
