Kyivstar mobile operator ranked ahead of Vodafone (Ukraine) and lifecell in network quality in 2018, according to a study by the French company nPerf.
The average data transfer rate in the Kyivstar network reached 22.7 Mbit/s for reception and 13.1 Mbit /s for transmission. For Vodafone, these indicators were 15 Mbit/s and 7.6 Mbit/s, respectively, and for lifecell — 14.9 Mbit/s and 6.3 Mbit/s.
In terms of video streaming quality, Kyivstar also showed the best result — 84.6%, followed by lifecell — 82.5% and Vodafone — 73.9%.
At the same time, lifecell had the smallest delay in signal transmission — on average 61.6 ms. Kyivstar lagged slightly behind — 62.9 ms, followed by Vodafone — 83.9 ms.
In all tests, the Kyivstar mobile network scored 56,570, surpassing Vodafone by almost 9,000 points.
A study of the speed and quality of mobile Internet was conducted between the three largest operators in Ukraine from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. During this period, more than 23,100 tests were conducted in 2G, 3G, 4G networks. They took place in three modes: the usual speed test (10,200 measurements), web browsing (3,800) and streaming (2,900). Most of the tests were in the Kyivstar network, because Vodafone and lifecell have fewer radio frequency resources.
nPerf specializes in measuring the speed and quality of Internet access. The nPerf server network consists of more than 350 servers worldwide. Total server throughput exceeds 1 Tb/s. The company also has measuring services in Ukraine.
