A draft law on the establishment of Ukraine's Financial Investigation Service (FIS) is among priority bills planned for consideration in the new parliament, State Tax Service Chief Serhiy Verlanov has said.
This decision was made at a meeting of the heads of tax and customs with the National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Danyliuk and Presidential Office of Ukraine Deputy Head Ruslan Riaboshapka.
"We went through the materials, our groundwork, the basic vision ... We want to reach a consensus decision before parliament convenes so it will be one of the first laws introduced and, accordingly, voted on by the new legislature," Verlanov said in an interview with the Kyiv-based Interfax -Ukraine news agency.
Grants of authority of the FIS are still being discussed.
"We will work out the mechanism of reorganizing the tax police into a new body so that there is no legal vacuum and the situation of 2017, when tax police had to work for several months, does not repeat itself," he said.
