Gas injection into USF in 2022
The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) is ready to deliver 54 million cubic meters of gas per day from Europe to Ukraine. This is almost twice as much as last year, said Sergiy Makogon, the company’s CEO.
According to him, the gas injection into Ukrainian underground storage facilities (USF) has already begun.
"So far, in insignificant volumes, mainly gas of our own production. Imports in significant volumes have not yet begun, but this is the matter of NJSC Naftogaz," Makogon said.
At present, the daily volume of imports is comparable to the volume of Ukrainian gas production.
Earlier it was reported that in February, for the first time, it became possible to physically import gas from Hungary — previously, the Ukrainian GTS could only work in the direction of this country.
According to Makogon, the Hungarian direction has become the second guaranteed route for gas supplies to Ukraine after Slovakia, even in the absence of transit, and the opening of this route created an opportunity for traders to organize gas supplies to Ukraine from an LNG terminal in Croatia.
