Born March 22, 1972 in Dnipropetrovsk (now: Dnipro).
As a child, Roman Chihir lived in the same house in Dnipropetrovsk as his future business partner Oleh Sotnikov, then they studied at the same school. He befriended with Volodymyr Kostelman in the 7th grade of school. All three classmates entered the same university.
Chihir owns about a quarter (23.3%) of the Fozzy Group, one of the largest commercial and industrial groups in Ukraine.

Career
In the mid-1990s, Roman Chihir and his friends started supplying tea, coffee, and chocolate bars first to Dnipropetrovsk, then they moved to Kyiv.
In 1997, they founded a wholesale company. A year later, they decided to open the first Fozzy hypermarket for small wholesale in Vyshneve near Kyiv.
In 2001, he and his partners founded the Silpo brand.
In 2009, Roman Chihir retired from active work and left the Fozzy Supervisory Board.

Wealth
Novoe Vremia magazine and Dragon Capital investment company estimate his fortune at $127 million. In the annual rating Top 100 Richest Ukrainians, Chihir takes the 49th place.
The news magazine Focus estimates the businessman’s fortune at $327 million.
Sotnikov is the Vice President of Fozzy Group. Sotnikov owns almost a quarter (23.2%) of one of the largest commercial and industrial groups in Ukraine.
He used to be a bass player in the rock band Remont Vody.
Since 2016, he has been playing together with Chihir in BUDU. In March 2018, they recorded their second album.
In 2015, the National Bank of Ukraine in order to ensure transparency in the banking sector revealed the names of the owners of 12 banks. Among them, there was Roman Chihir who had 11.5%shares in Vostok Bank.

It is known that one of his children’s name is Robert. The guy studied at the Dnipro National University of Railway Transport at the faculty of Computer Technology and Systems. He won a few all-Ukrainian programming Olympiads. In social networks, he indicates that his favorite music is the Beatles, Valery Meladze, and Remont Vody.
Robert's mom, Olha Yefanova, is a judge of the District Administrative Court of Dnipropetrovsk, where she has been working since 2008.
According to Yefanova's declaration, the family has an apartment in the Dnipro (66 m2) and a Mitsubishi car. Their income comes from salary and scholarship. The family stores $19,000 in cash, and UAH 208,000 in a bank on a judge's account.

In 2018, the Russian Federation published its so-called 'sanctions list' which included the largest Ukrainian businessmen (322 Ukrainian individuals and 68 legal entities). Among blacklisted individuals, there were all the owners of Fozzy, including Roman Chihir.

Crime

In 2013, Roman tried to prevent an attachment of his apartment. According to the registry of court decisions, he purchased a property in Kyiv in 2005. And after a while, law enforcement officers began an investigation of suspected fraud used by. The sellers allegedly sold the apartment illegally so that an underage child became homeless. The victim in the case was a young lady.
Chihir argued that at the time of the purchase, the documents on the real estate were in order, but the Pechersk court refused to withdraw the attachment.

Merits
During the last few years, Roman writes poetry and plays in BUDU, a music band created in 2017. His business partner Oleh Sotnikov plays the guitar in the band.
Previously, they played in another musical band, the rock band Remont Vody. The front man of the band was Volodymyr Kostelman.
Chihir publishes his poems. One of his four poetry collection books can be purchased online for UAH 250.
