Volkswagen will help combat hunger in Ukraine

The auto-importer will provide cars to combat hunger and encourage responsible consumption. Volkswagen is known all over the world not only as one of the largest car manufacturers, but also as a socially responsible company. The Germans are consistently solving important problems of society by drawing attention to the issue of environmental protection.

As part of the social initiative, the Ukrainian representative office of Volkswagen will donate two Polo sedans for temporary use to the volunteers of Food Foundation UA. This charitable organization is simultaneously carrying out several vital missions: combating hunger and poverty, encouraging society to consume responsibly, and agitating for minimizing food waste. Although, according to UNICEF statistics, the poverty rate in our country in 2021 is 51%, a third of the waste of Ukrainian families is food. On the scale of a large grocery store, this is already 36-60 tons annually.

Food Foundation UA cooperates both with large grocery retail chains and directly with manufacturing companies, obtaining from them food products that, for some reason, cannot be sold or their pull-date is expiring. Volunteers form balanced food packages from them, add personal hygiene and basic necessities, and then transfer them to representatives of social groups in need of food assistance. The fund's team has been engaged in charity work for the seventh year, and involving additional transport will help encompass even more families who find themselves in difficult life circumstances and need this kind of support.
