In 2012, American media outraged that the Federal Government's Overseas Private Investment Corporation gave $20 million loan to Winner Import Ukraine to expand its automobile business, and construct and operate Winner AutoCity. They said that instead of helping their own business, the taxpayers fund allocates huge money for the construction of a VIP car dealership in Ukraine. Moreover, the loan was provided to Hynansky, an old friend of US Vice President John Biden.
In 2019, the Politiko website published documents that showed that Vice President Joe Biden's younger brother James borrowed $2.5 million from Hynansky.
'There is no indication that the loan influenced Joe Biden’s official actions, but it furthers a decades-long pattern by which relatives of the former vice president have leaned on his political allies for money and otherwise benefited financially from the Biden name', — stated the American journalists.
John started selling cars at the age of 21, and when he was 32, he opened his first company.
'When founding our company here in Ukraine, he constantly emphasized that we came here not just to make money. We are part of Ukraine,' his business partners tell journalists.
According to the media, in the early 1990s, when the Ukrainian government did not have money to buy a building for the Ukrainian consulate in New York, it was Hynansky who financed this purchase.
The company helped the ATO: the military was provided with four minibuses.
In 2018, Hynansky donated two new CCT ambulances to the neonatal center of the Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital. Each car cost UAH 3 million and was equipped with the most modern German and American facilities to help save premature babies.
In early 2020, Ukrainian celebrities raised money to restore the house of the composer Mykola Leontovych. Among the benefactors, there is also the name of the American philanthropist.
