In 2019, the bank's profit exceeded UAH 1.28 billion. On January 1, 2020, the assets were estimated at UAH 119 billion, and that was UAH 37 billion more than the previous year. Since the beginning of 2020, Ukrgasbank's assets have grown to UAH 140 billion.
The bank has 250 branches in 154 settlements. It employs 4,300 people.
The number of clients: 2.136 million.
There are about 1.665 million Ukrgasbank payment cards in circulation, and more than 850,000 of them are active.

History of the company
In 1993, a joint-stock commercial bank Khadjibey was founded in Odessa. Two years later, it was renamed Intergasbank, and the headquarter was moved to Kyiv.
In 1997, the bank was renamed again, it became Ukrgasbank.
In 1999, the bank acquired Service bank in Uzhhorod. Then, it also acquired Ukrneftegazbank with branches in Kyiv, Luhansk, Simferopol, Odesa, and Lviv. Three years later, it got Narodny bank. All of them have become branches of Ukragazbank.
In 2009, the bank was nationalized by the state due to the financial crisis and the collapse of the real estate market which threatened bank bankruptcy. Back at that time, Ukrgasbank came out on top in terms of losses (UAH 4.4 billion).
In 2009-2011, the government contributed UAH 7.4 billion to the capital of Ukrgasbank.
In 2019, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) from the World Bank Group agreed to provide the bank with a five-year loan for €30 million.
In May 2020, IFC announced Ukrgasbank as the best issuing bank in Eastern Europe. And in June, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed on a deal with an international financial corporation.

NAK Naftogaz is the largest national company in Ukraine.
Since 1998, Ukrgasbank has served only the newly created NJSC Naftogaz.
Back then, the clients of Ukrgasbank were enterprises engaged in oil and gas production. Two years later, Naftogaz refused the bank's services.
'After that, the bank revised its policy towards clients and turned from a highly specialized branch bank into a universal one,' the bank's executives told reporters.

Ihor Bakai
Former advisor to President Leonid Kuchma.
In 1998-2000, Chairman of NJSC Naftogaz, and then — Head of the State Administration of Affairs.
In 2004, the politician left Ukraine. For a long time, he was wanted by Interpol. He was accused of abuse of his official position and exceeding his powers in his post of Head of the State Department of Affairs.
In 2017, Bakai was arrested in Moscow on suspicion of fraud. It was reported that there were a number of allegations to the prosecutor's office accusing Ihor Bakai. Among others, Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov who loaned Bakai million also sent an allegation.
Since 1994, the bank has belonged to structures associated with Bakai. In particular, with Intergas, a company that bought fuel in Russia.
According to the media, the owners of Intergasbank were Bakai's partners Oleksandr Abdullin, Oleksiy Kucherenko, Serhii Veselov, and Kostyantyn Zhevago.
Back then, the bank served only one structure — the company Veles owned by Bakai that at that time did not carry out any settlements.
Until 2000, Bakai was a shareholder of Ukrgasbank.
Vasyl Horbal

In 1996, Horbal came to Ukrgasbank as Deputy Chairman of the Board — Head of the Foreign Currency Operations Department. He recalled that at that time there were only about ten people working in the bank.
'I was given a certain block of shares as a bonus for the successful development of the bank,' Horbal told reporters about how he became a shareholder in the bank.
Later, Ihor Bakai transferred the entire bank under his management.
'For a person who held such positions, transferring the management of a then-small bank is a modest gift,' the Ukrgasbank website quotes Horbal. In 2002, Horbal became a people's deputy from Party of Regions — during his parliamentary activities, he was the honorary president of the bank.
And in 2010, after the victory of Viktor Yanukovych in the presidential elections, he was appointed head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Oleh Dubyna
former chairman of the board of Naftogaz
In the government of Yulia Tymoshenko, Dubyna was the chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz. He is remembered for signing an expensive gas contract with Russia that was considered unprofitable for Ukraine.
In 2009, after the nationalization of Ukrgasbank, Dubyna became the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the bank.
A year later, he was replaced in this position by Viktor Ivchenko, the chairman of the supervisory board of the National Depository of Ukraine. He is the husband of Vera Ulyanchenko, a former head of the Presidential Secretariat Viktor Yushchenko.

Scandals
In 2000, there was so-called "Cassette Scandal" in Ukraine: audio recordings allegedly secretly made in the office of President Leonid Kuchma were made public.
On Melnychenko's tapes, there was mentioned Ukrgasbank as a bank used by Ihor Bakai to divert significant funds from taxation.
In 2005, the Prosecutor General's Office arrested the chairman of the board of Ukrgasbank Vadym Lyashko. He and Ukrzaliznytsia officials were suspected of embezzling UAH 300 million.
The bank stated that the arrest had nothing to do with the Ukrgasbank activities. Two months later, Lyashko got back to work.
In 2019, the National Police accused former bank officials of embezzling UAH 39 million earned from a fictitious lease of premises. The former member of the supervisory board was taken into custody right in the courtroom.
According to the register of court decisions, all the scandalous events that involved bank employees took place in 2008-2009.
According to the journalists, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at that time was Oleksiy Omelyanenko, a deputy of the Party of Regions in the Kyiv City Council. He spent almost two months in jail and was released on bail of UAH 3 million.

Merits
Ukrgasbank is the leading "ecobank" of the country. One of its directions is financing projects related to technologies of energy efficiency, renewable energy, resource efficiency, and pollution reduction.
On January 1, 2020, the loan portfolio of organic products and other liabilities for lending to the bank was UAH 15.6 billion.
In spring 2020, the bank entered the TOP 10 most reliable banks in the country according to Dengi magazine. This fact is especially impressive since the first four months of the quarantine were difficult for the entire banking system of the country.
