SSU exposes anti-vaccination bot farm used by pro-Russian agitators

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed a pro-Russian anti-vaccination bot farm in Chernivtsi. This is reported on the website of the department.

The bot farm owners specialized in creating and promoting bot accounts on social networks sold on the black market. They created more than 20,000 bots verified in social networks using fake Ukrainian passports. The operativists found that most of the profiles were bought by pro-Russian agitators.

The bots were used to discredit the Ukrainian state and the Ukrainian armed forces, to justify the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and incite anti-vaccination sentiments.

According to the investigation, the group of "cyber businessmen" consisted of about 15 people. The activity was carried out in a specially rented office in Chernivtsi. During searches carried out in the office building where the bot farm was based, the law enforcement officers found and seized: computer equipment with the mainour, special software, almost 6,400 starter packages of Ukrainian and foreign mobile operators, including Russian, and more than 4,000 payment cards of Ukrainian banks. At present, investigative activities are in process to identify and prosecute all persons involved in the scheme.
