Russian forces have gone on the defensive, says Budanov
Russian forces have switched to position defense everywhere except for Bakhmut, the only place where they still attempt an assault, and the towns of Maryinka and Avdiivka, which they try to encircle. The Chief of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, said this in an interview.
"No, I have no data, but they are planning it," commented Budanov on the possible intensification of hostilities and even the offensive of the enemy in some other area.
According to him, Russians use the same tactics in Avdiivka, Maryinka, and Bakhmut: the invaders try to destroy the places to the ground.
"Avdiivka was simply wiped out, and besides, Bakhmut also was," Budanov noted.
According to Budanov, Bakhmut is the only place where the invaders have some tactical success, which cost them enormous losses.
"And as they have no success anywhere else, they are facing the problem that even their ‘duped’ society needs to be shown some kind of victory. This is the only place where they can at least achieve something. Adding insult to injury, Prigozhin once said that he would take Bakhmut. He would be happy to weasel out now, but he cannot. So, it’s about many things happening in the same place," said the intelligence chief.
