OCCRP: Trump's Ukraine Investigation

Author

U.S. President Donald Trump on April 26, 2019 said during a telephone interview that the U.S. Justice Department will investigate allegations of collusion between Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies and Hillary Clinton’s campaign during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Now his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani says Ukraine is partly to blame, according to a 4,445-word investigative report published on July 22, 2019 by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.

Giuliani has largely centered on efforts to connect the president’s personal attorney with current and former senior Ukrainian prosecutors believed to hold information harmful to Trump’s rivals. He has relied on Soviet emigres Lev Parnas and Ihor Fruman, who are American citizens with close ties to Ukrainian businessmen and members of Donald Trump's family.
