For the first time, Germany delivered Bandvagn 206 all-terrain carriers to the Ukrainian army. It is planned to send a total of eight such vehicles.
The German Ministry of Defense announced the delivery on its website.
Besides the vehicles, the new delivery includes 2,000 rounds of ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, 14 drones, 3 anti-drone systems, 2 trucks, 16 other vehicles, and 11,000 dry rations.
What are the specifications of the Bandvagn 206?
The Bandvagn 206 is a Swedish-made two-section tracked all-terrain vehicle. It was developed to move on challenging terrain including the Arctic, deserts, or jungles. The vehicle can carry the driver and 11 fully equipped fighters.
Bandvagn 206 provides protection from small-arms fire and small-sized shell fragments. The carrier is equipped with a ring mount for one 7.62-mm or 12.7-mm machine gun for self-defense.
Earlier, it was also reported that the German government contracted Flensburger Fahrzeugbau GmbH (FFG) to supply 66 wheeled armored personnel carriers.
