In just a few years, Arista Trade has entered the top five exporters of agricultural products from Ukraine despite not owning its own port or logistics infrastructure. In 2024, the company exported 3.6 million tonnes of agricultural commodities.
This was stated by the company’s co-owner and CEO, Mykhailo Voronych, in an interview with Latifundist.
According to him, the foundation of the company’s business model is operational flexibility and the speed of decision-making, which allows the company to respond quickly to market changes.
«Speed of decision-making. We don’t have long approval chains. If I see a direction isn’t working, I stop it. If I see an opportunity, I enter quickly,» Voronych explained.
After the start of the full-scale war, a significant number of new traders entered the market. However, not all of them managed to adapt to the new logistics conditions and declining margins.
«Look at how many visible Ukrainian traders are left on the market. Not many,» he noted.
One of the reasons for Arista Trade’s growth was its focus on narrow specialization rather than trading all crops simultaneously. The company concentrated on the most efficient commodities.
«We didn’t focus on shipping everything — wheat, corn, "everything." Instead, we concentrated on one or two commodities. First sunflower, then soybeans and rapeseed,» Voronych said.
This approach allowed the company to quickly occupy a niche in the market and build relationships with large agricultural producers.
